Here we leave you the summary of our trip, by way of Croatia travel guideWe hope it helps you to plan your visit to this spectacular country!

Croatia has been a real surprise: we knew that the country was going to be beautiful ... but we didn't think so much: beaches with crystal clear waters, villages built with rocks and orange roofs, pastel windows, rich gastronomy, citadels taken from historical novels (or series medieval) a culturally very interesting capital and beautiful natural parks. Come on, we liked it so much that the next year we came back to learn more about the region of Istria.

This was our itinerary on our first trip to Croatia:

These were the posts of the trip:

  • ZAGREB, WELCOME TO CROATIA!
  • WHERE TO SLEEP IN ZAGREB
  • ISTRIA, GREEN AND BLUE CROATIA
  • SPLIT: TRAVELING IN TIME
  • WHERE TO SLEEP IN SPLIT
  • PLITVICE: BETWEEN LAKES, WATERFALLS AND A LOT OF CHINESE
  • ISLAND HOPPING BY CROATIA
  • WHERE TO SLEEP IN DUBROVNIK

Then we returned to Istria and wrote these others:

THE BEST OF CROATIA

  • Split: Diocletian's Palace seemed wonderful to us, especially because we visited it first thing in the morning, when there was no one ... and at night, when the vast majority of tourists had already left. Definitely one of the best of a trip to Croatia.
  • Istria It was the region that surprised us the most: we had read that it was no big deal but we thought it was wonderful: Rovinj, Pula, the Premantura Peninsula and its beaches ... we will be back with more time!
  • Beaches: Although many prefer sandy beaches, it is undeniable that those in Croatia, with small stone coves and rock cliffs, are a pass (and we survive without escarpines or crabs!)
  • Zagreb: Many travelers had described the city as sad, without much interest or appeal. However, it seemed to us a vibrant, culturally active city with many secrets to discover.
  • The road trip along the coast: between one thing and another we traveled practically the entire coast of Croatia and wow! It is dotted with super cute villages, calm beaches and transparent waters, ports full of fishing boats ... for us it has been the best of the best of the trip: renting a car and moving in your air is undoubtedly the best option to explore Croatia .

THE WORST OF CROATIA

  • To have Little time available to get to know the country well (we want to visit Zadar, one of the most famous islands like Braç or Hvar, to explore the Slavonia region and to get to know the Istria area more thoroughly).
  • To visit Dubrovnik during the week end: if the city is always full of tourists ... during the weekend it is even more so! It was a bit overwhelming, really ... lucky that, as always, just leave the main streets of the historic center to find authentic and virtually deserted corners.
  • Not being able to fully enjoy Croatian cuisine by having a backpacking budget... although some local delicacies we tried them eh ... a post will come telling you everything!
