What is the Holi?

The "HOLI”Is one of these parties that, at least once, every person would have to live. It is celebrated in India and Nepal for two days, here we tell you more about this colorful holiday.

During the first day the death of Holika, which according to the legend She was the daughter of the king of demons, who, in honor of the god Vishnu, killed her by confusing her for another son. Holika died in a bonfire, so on the night of the first day of the celebration in all cities large bonfires are lit.

The second day It's much happier: the party wants to give the welcome to Spring and to the rainy season. All India takes to the streets and plays the most beautiful war in the world: the one that replaces the guns with colored powders, balloons and buckets of water!

But ... why? According to Hindus, spring is characterized by an unstable weather and therefore causes fever and discomfort: colored powders have therapeutic significance… Each color is made with a different combination of medicinal herbs, as if they were a talisman so as not to get sick!

Curiosity: the typical drink of the party is the β€œbhangβ€œ, Made from marijuana leaves.

If you would like to participate but you cannot travel to India at the moment ... there is good news: In Barcelona it is also celebrated! Ok it's not the same, but something is something right?
