Male It is the capital and largest city of Maldives and yes, it has some interesting things to see and do. In this post we will give you 5 ideas of things to see and do in Male.

Perhaps it is the most famous attraction of Male. The best time to visit it is undoubtedly in the afternoon when the boats have returned and take their loot to the mainland. We saw many fish although the ones that have impressed us the most have been the tunas ... that great by God! If you are one of those who suffer strong odors ... get ready 🙂

Near the fish market there is another local market where you can buy fruit or typical Maldivian food. We tried a coconut sugar that was the end of the world! It is a perfect place to buy some exotic fruit to enjoy on one of the beaches of Maldives (or at the hotel hehe).

You will notice as soon as you arrive: Maldives is a Muslim nation and mosques are in every corner. We love to hear the call to prayers and if you have never done so, we advise you to visit a mosque or "spy" outside the faithful while they pray.

If you want advice, do not hesitate to approach the Great Mosque on Friday, the oldest in all Maldives. If you want to enter inside you will have to go from 9 to 17h and dress according to the local labels (women with their heads, shoulders and legs covered and men with long pants).

Since, paradoxically but true, the capital of Maldives had no beautiful beach, they decided to create an artificial beach ... and it looked great, huh! In the morning it is practically deserted, we had it all for us and it is great to take a bath there watching the waves of the open sea break a few meters away. In the sunset it is when it comes to life: children with their moms swim happily on the shore or play in the sand with their parents while the streets are filled with boys who play soccer, couples take romantic walks or old ladies who lose their eyes on the sea.

Eye: it is not a bikini-beach. If you want to bathe you will have to do it in shorts and a little shirt.

You will soon realize: the quality of life of Maldives is very good! And not only because of its beaches: its inhabitants seemed most ... relaxed. In each street you will see benches and seats to rest to chat, sunbathe or see what happens around you! And if you can also relax tasting some Maldivian snacks ... better than better.
